General Objective of the Job
The PSS Assistant is responsible to support with developing partner capacity in PSS programming, monitor the quality of the implementation of activities, and advise partner staff on the technical aspect of the PSS activities in the field.

Position in the organisation

The PSS Assistant will be part of the IDA Northwest Hub and will be reporting to the MHPSS Project Coordinator.

Role holder will not manage staff.

Result Areas

1. Developing and implementing trainings
• Gather relevant data from the field to support the with the contextualization of PSS training materials and activities, and to inform PSS coordinator on tools required for development, in close coordination with the partners as needed.
• Support the piloting of new PSS methodologies and tools (training, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, review, contextualization, feedback).
• Support PSS Coordinator in delivering briefings, workshops, Training of Trainers, etc.to partners on existing PSS methodologies, tools, and materials including such as : PSS minimum standards, Team-Up, Psychological First Aid, etc.

2. Reporting and information sharing:

• Build strong relationships with partner focal points to facilitate effective capacity building cycles throughout the project, and to follow up on PSS implementation in partner implementation sites (organizations, schools, camps, etc.).
• Attend internal partner meetings, as needed, to effectively follow-up on the project and key actions related to the implementation and monitoring of PSS activities.
• Attend internal MHPSS meetings to stay in the loop about the internal strategy for MHPSS within War Child
• Participate in developing training reports for the PSS trainings the assistant supported with.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation

• Collect and document feedback from the field on the technical aspect of methodologies and implementation of activities, including challenges, successes, and lessons learned from trainees, children, and/or caregivers, to help in the adaptation to the changes occurring in the environment.
• Visit project sites periodically as agreed upon and gather information about implementation and progress when required.

Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (counseling, social sciences, psychology, etc.).
• Minimum 2 years in the field of PSS
• Knowledge of PSS programming principles and best practices in the humanitarian field
• Knowledge of the context; cultural sensitivity
• Experience in capacity building and delivering training sessions.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines when needed.
• Willingness to travel to project sites
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
