Who we are?

IDA is an international independent non-governmental organization providing medical and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflicts, natural disasters and epidemics regardless of race, religion, gender or political affiliation.
IDA was founded in 2012 by Syrian doctors from Aleppo in response to the healthcare and humanitarian crisis in Syria.

IDA Syria is the main healthcare provider in the Northern Aleppo/Syria area, working closely with 500,000 IDPs and 700,000 host communities through 20 healthcare facilities and other health and nutrition projects

During last year, IDA has provided 1.2 million services in Heath, Nutrition, WaSH and Camp Management

Specific Responsibilities:

A compliance manager’s responsibility is to keep the legal and ethical integrity of IDA intact through policy enforcement and program planning. He/she makes sure all departments of IDA are complying with the rules and regulations of the donors and IDA. He/she will be responsible for keeping up-to-date with changes in the rules and regulations of the donors

  • Monitor applicable changes to requirements to mitigate risks and achieve compliance.
  • Provide consultative advice to functional operating areas to aid in achieving compliance.
  • Works with the other Department and as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program for IDA’s staff and partners.
  • Develop plan with relevant department managers and staff in relation to corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Finance, Internal Audit, HR, Procurement, etc.) to direct compliance issues raised in quarterly reports to appropriate existing channels resolution.
  • Review the quarterly reports process and make suggestions for improvement and make any necessary changes to the process.
  • Staff Management: working closely with CO to:
    • Set goals for the CO, and decide what work needs to be done to meet those goals
    • Divides the work into manageable activities, and selects the appropriate methods to accomplish the tasks that need to be done.
    • Build the capacity of the staff through specific trainings about Donor regulations and Partnerships.
  • Ensure that all appropriate donor formats are available and key contributing staff have a clear understanding of donor requirements and expectations at the proposal, kick off, amendment, reporting, close out and audit stage of awards.
  • Facilitating external audits as required.
  • Working with CO to identify Compliance Department objectives yearly plan and follow up on this plan to ensure that this plan is well implemented.
  • Work with program staff to ensure relevant donor requirements are effectively communicated and understood by implementing partners.

Qualifications:

Context/Specific skills, knowledge, and experience:

  • University graduate, background in, management, administration, finance or related field.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the major donors and experience in reporting to donors (USAID, ECHO).
  • Excellent computer skill in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft office Programmes.
  • Ability to learn new systems and IT software quickly and effectively.
  • Previous experience training others an advantage.
  • Good attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative, assess risk and make plans accordingly.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
  • Prepared to work in insecure environments.
  • Flexible and creative approach with a proven ability to resolve issues and identify solutions.
  • Patient, adaptable, flexible, able to improvise and remain responsive and communicate clearly and effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills while interacting with colleagues and partners.
  • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities;
