General Objective of the Job
The role of the Child Protection Assistant focuses on enhancing IDA child protection practices and policies. Reporting to the CP/CSG Project Coordinator, this position entails monitoring and supporting partners in implementing child protection initiatives. Responsibilities include providing follow-up on partner implementation, facilitating sessions and workshops to IDA Implementing partners staff on a field level.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Position in the organisation
The Child Protection Assistant reports directly to the CP/CSG Project Coordinator and collaborates closely with other project team members to ensure alignment with IDA child protection policies and standards. The role primarily involves communication with implementing partners to support the effective implementation of child protection initiatives. The Assistant will contribute to capacity-building efforts, facilitate training sessions, and ensure comprehensive documentation through timely and accurate reporting on program activities with the support of the CP\CSG Project Coordinator. Upholding confidentiality and ethical standards in all aspects of child protection programming is paramount in this role.
Result Areas and Contribute to CP Function
Program Implementation:
· Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of child protection activities, including but not limited to child protection case management, community-based child protection mechanisms, and awareness-raising campaigns.
· Provide feedback based on field observations to CP coordination for revising child protection materials as necessary.
· Assist the CP coordinator in providing necessary support and guidance to partners for implementing activities according to established standards and protocols.
· Collaborate closely with implementing partners to facilitate the effective delivery of child protection services.
· Conduct field and monitoring visits to partners organizations and provide needed support and feedback.
Internal and external coordination and representation:
· Support in Coordinating with relevant stakeholders, including local organizations, and other humanitarian actors, to enhance collaboration and coordination in child protection interventions when requested by the CP Project Coordinator.
Capacity Building:
· Support capacity-building efforts for implementing partners and community members on child protection principles, procedures, and best practices.
· Facilitate training sessions and workshops as necessary.
Reporting:
· Compile and submit timely and accurate Training/ field reports on program activities, including field monitoring, progress, challenges, and achievements, to ensure comprehensive documentation of the project’s implementation status.

Knowledge and Experience
• Relevant academic background (e.g.: development, research, social sciences, psychology)
• At least 2 years’ experience working with children and/or youth
• Good understanding of children rights and other human rights legal instruments
• Proven knowledge in children and youth protection
• Familiar with community based approaches
• Ability to conduct outreach at the community level.
• Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure.
Desirable
• Experience in facilitating community level training sessions
• Culturally sensitive.
• Commitment to high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
