IDA recognizes the importance of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and infrastructure programs as integral components of an inclusive response aimed at ensuring the quality of health and nutrition services.

Starting in 2019, IDA has actively engaged in the WASH cluster, attracting expertise to fortify its efforts in this essential sector that directly supports health objectives. As a health-focused organization, IDA’s strategy revolves around implementing impactful WASH and infrastructure activities that align with the primary goals of the health and nutrition sectors. IDA’s initiatives in the WASH and infrastructure sector have not only bolstered the quality of health and nutrition services but have also contributed significantly to the well-being and resilience of the communities we serve.

Contributing to the prevention of waterborne diseases through comprehensive water source assessments and ensuring the provision of clean drinking water through well digging, benefiting both camps and health facilities.

Implemented cutting-edge incinerators in both northeastern Syria (NES) and northwestern Syria (NWS) for the secure disposal of medical waste and significantly reduced health hazards associated with improper waste management.

Played a vital role in climate change response by implementing clean energy interventions, providing solar systems to health facilities to reduce the environmental impact and create a reliable energy source for healthcare.

Successfully rehabilitated and reactivated more than 36 health facilities and addressed sanitation concerns by fixing sewage systems in the surrounding areas, ensuring improved healthcare environments.
