Nutrition

Northwest Syria bears the brunt of a 13-year conflict, subjecting local communities to various hardships, including a collapsed health system, rampant poverty, unemployment, community breakdown, extreme living conditions and insecurity.

Impact on Vulnerable Groups

Promoting Health and Nutrition for Families

The challenges have hindered communities’ ability to maintain a nutritious diet, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like children under five and pregnant or lactating women.

In response, IDA has set up nutrition facilities to address malnutrition among pregnant and lactating women (PLW) and children under five.

These centers, led by specialized nutri-tionists and community health workers, actively promote health and nutrition awareness.
